This report by US EPA summarizes 17 case studies of developments that include Low Impact Development (LID) practices. This report concludes that applying LID techniques can reduce project costs and improve environmental performance. In most cases featured within, LID practices were shown to be both fiscally and environmentally beneficial to communities. In the vast majority of cases analyzed, significant savings were realized from LID due to reduced costs for site grading, preparation, stormwater infrastructure, paving, etc. When LID methods were used, communities typically saved between 15 and 80 percent on their capital costs.
